It's kind of like a fairy tale.
Based in our world, but equally accepting of another more magical one where we can be healed from our woes and pains. Much like the entire genre of Fantasy tends to serve our world. The estimated length is going to be anywhere between 3-5 minutes, and production is well under way in between a full time art publishing job, and a part-time film career.
I originally wrote the film to respond to a challenge given to me by the man who convinced me to join the film industry nearly two years ago. I've tried and tried to begin production several times, but this year I kicked myself enough in the butt to make sure it happens. My main goals with this short film are to: -Gain more mastery in the art forms of cinema and animation. -Push my skills at directing a project of my own volition. -Gain a solid portfolio/reel piece to show to film industry professionals. -Give back to incredibly massive collection of literature and art that has influenced me to help me be the artist I am today. -Test the limits of Blender's animation, rendering, and compositing capabilities. |
The Giant
One of the things I've never been satisfied with in fantasy and animation is that it's commonly created specifically for "Children." It tends to purposely lack thematic complexity, the emotional confusion we'll feel in life, and some of the very real things that happen to us. I did write this script in a difficult time in my life to help me process and deal with that dark time, and I'm hoping I can translate that across the medium.

I try to keep this updated with the most recent test footage. Or cycle it through.
